“We stand for the things we want. That’s the only reason we’re doing rock n roll.” “We’re not doing this because someone said, ‘Son, I want you to grow up and be a singer in a rock n roll band.’” Axl Rose 1987
They say all good things must come to an end, but we don’t think of SGK retiring as an “end” just new beginnings for us all, hell even really long-lived stars will eventually burn out (no we don’t mean Keith Richards!)
Before we get to the thank yous, lets take a real quick jaunt down memory lane and think of what this band has achieved with the help of our many friends, family and fans…
In 2005 Scotty and Al the driver worked together to deliver a “No rules Rock and Roll” band that would play the songs people wanted to hear, yet wasn’t the same ol’ songs they heard every weekend at their local watering holes and festivals. After years of meeting and enjoying the stage with different people, they found the perfect mix of misfits who delivered just that, an in your face, kick in the junk night of music that made you think…what the hell is wrong with those guys, and why can’t I wait to see them play again!
The band has played over a 160 live shows, countless private functions and has raised thousands of dollars for charities such as CHEO and Breast Cancer Research (come on, you know we’re men, we’ll do anything for boobies!) All jokes aside, we hope you will all continue to support these fund raising efforts long after our last note is played. When will the last note be played??? We’re not quite ready to divulge that yet; we must put out the thank yous first, please read on.
Family…How could we have crawled in at 3, 4 and 5am in the morning without your unwavering support and encouragement, sometimes you were there as the sun came up helping us load and unload our gear, sometimes you were holding down the home front, either way we love and thank you for the years of putting up with the smell of Jack Daniels on our breath and the ringing in your ears.
Friends and Fans…Huge thanks to our “old” friends who helped us in the beginning that continued to come out and support us throughout the years. To the thousands we have met and become close to, there is no way we would have become as successful as we have if it weren’t for you telling your friends “Come see these guys, you never know what you’ll see or hear!”
We have made many close friends, too many to name, but thank you all and hope you will all rock on with the same attitude we have had…Be kind to a stranger, they are just a friend you haven’t met yet! To all the bars and the staff who gave us a chance and kept us coming back month after month and for keeping us “well hydrated” we tip our hats to you and will no doubt see you again in perhaps other projects in the future.
O.K…enough thank you mush, the end blah blahs, we love you all crap…
